Nose Art

During the summer of 1942, Wing Commander Guy Gibson was the commanding officer of No. 106 Squadron RAF. He flew Lancaster W-4118 (ZN-Y) on six operations. The aircraft featured nose art of Mickey Mouse and was named "Admiral Prune". On 5 February 1943, with another crew on board, W-4118 went missing after an engine fire near Dijon. Another Lancaster, ED-593, was painted with the same nose art and named "Admiral Prune II".
