"Dragon" was Halifax LK-947. She competed eight operations with No. 428 Squadron, four sorties with No. 429 Squadron, and seven more with No. 434 Squadron, her last to Frisian Islands on 7 May 1944 flown by F/Sgt. W. Wood. LK-947 was then assigned to No. 1659 and 1669 Heavy Conversion Units for training purposes prior to being designated for disposal at High Ercall on 21 January 1945. Dragon is one of fourteen panels of Halifax nose art that was cut from RCAF aircraft that were about to be scrapped after the war. It is currently on display at the Canadian War Museum.
